It’s fast. Most cases can be mediated in a single half-day session and can typically be scheduled within 2 weeks of the mediation
request.
It’s affordable. Fees for mediation at the DRC are nominal or free depending on the circumstances.
It’s convenient. Mediations
are held at the DRC in San Marcos on weekday mornings, afternoons and evenings.
It’s informal. Mediation is flexible to meet
the needs of the parties. There is no formal discovery or complex legal rules.
It’s confidential. All discussions related
to the subject of the mediation and even the behavior and actions of the parties are private and confidential. The DRC is a
safe and neutral setting and what takes place in a mediation may not be used in a court of law.
The parties are in charge of the outcome. The parties decide how best to resolve the dispute and are generally more satisfied with agreements that they themselves have created. Mediation is designed as a win/win solution.
Does mediation really work?
Yes. Approximately 60% to 75% of the cases which are mediated at dispute resolution centers in Texas are resolved with
a mutually satisfactory agreement. Most parties report satisfaction with the mediation process.
